The GCG is having their first monthly work party of the 2026 growing season.


Please join us Saturday, June 13th, from 10am til 12pm at both garden sites. Rain date is the Sunday.


Other planned work parties for this season:


  • July 11th

  • August 15th

  • September 12th

  • October 17th


Gardeners can expect to help with weeding, compost, and many other tasks that keep our gardens looking nice We hope to see you there!

 
 

We are planning an opening day on May 9th at both sites and STRONGLY recommend that all gardeners come and volunteer for at least some of the time. Compost and hay will be available for use on your plots.  


Activities during opening day include:

  • Opening the sites including putting out furniture, checking compost bins, weeding

  • Meeting fellow gardeners and board members

  • Tours of the gardens and information about GCG for new and returning members (10:30 am and 12 pm)

  • Overview of square foot gardening (12 pm at Goldenrod site)


Date - Saturday, May 9, 2026 (Rain date: Sunday, May 10, 2026)

Time - 10:00am to 2:00 pm

Location - The Goldenrod garden and The Parkdale-Bullman garden




 
 

Join Goldenrod Community Garden's former board member Tanya Salewski for an information session about getting your plot ready for spring!

Date - Sunday, March 29, 2026

Time - 2:00 to 4:00 pm

Location - Hintonburg Community Centre

Room - Basement No. 1


The workshop will cover seed starting, planning and planting your garden.

Don't forget to bring a pot/container (e.g., paper/plastic cup, yogourt container etc.) to participate in a hands-on seed starting demo.

Gardeners will also have the opportunity to seed swap. We encourage gardeners to bring any seeds they want to share.

Seed availability will range from those that can be started indoors and to those which can be directly sowed in the spring.
